--What are your favorite tools you now have in your personal technology toolbox? Tool # 7 was one of my favorite tools because I can definitely think can be used in my classroom. We have being talking about landforms in science and I think that an online digital project could be an awesome learning experience for my students. They can use brain pop, google, or other websites to find information on landforms, do some research and compare results and facts with another kinder class via Skype! --How have you transformed your thinking about the learning that will take place in your classroom? How has your vision for your classroom changed? YES! I now think that technology really plays a crucial role in today's education. I try to incorporate it everyday and I am very satisfied because my students really enjoy it. --Were there any unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you? Yes, I did not know of all the great websites and apps that can be educational and fun to work with. I knew some of them, but this program has given me new ideas that I can use in my classroom. It has been a productive experience.
Out of all the tools, I believe tool 10 is the most important. Student's safety is the number one goal for teachers and administrators. It is very important to make our students conscious about digital citizenship starting the very first time they use a technology device. I want my students to know that a computer can teach them a lot of valuable things and facts, but it can also provide information that is not true and sometimes even dangerous! At the kinder level it is important that they know why some websites aren't safe for them and they understand that the teacher expects from them to be responsible and accountable for what they do with the technology. I like how Vicky Davis presents the idea of responsible digital citizens because I think that kindergarten students can relate themselves to that idea. I always tell my students that we can learn a lot of interesting things from the internet, but that we have to be careful because there are somethings out there that are just not good/safe for them.
